The News Feed is the central place to view activity across Knowledge Commons and share brief updates with other members. You can access it by clicking News Feed in the main left-hand menu.

1. Viewing Your News Feed
The News Feed displays a wide range of site activity, including:
- New blogs and sites
- New discussion topics in groups
- Status updates
- Deposits to KCWorks
- Group activity (files, memberships, and more)
Filter Options
There are two sets of filters to help you focus on the activity that matters most to you.
A. Horizontal Filters
Located across the top of the page, these options allow you to view:
- Activity from members you follow
- Activity from your groups
- Posts where you are mentioned
B. Activity Type Filters
A dropdown menu allows you to filter by specific types of activity, such as:
- Updates
- Posts
- Comments
- New Groups
- Group Memberships
- New Members
- New Deposits
- Group Files (Uploads and Edits)
- Topics and Replies
- Docs (New, Edits, Comments)
2. Posting an Update
When logged in, you can post a brief status update or announcement directly from the News Feed.
How to Post
- Click News Feed in the left-hand menu.
- Type your message into the text box beneath the “What's new” prompt.
- Click Post Update to publish your message.
Your update will appear in the public activity stream and under Recent Commons Activity on your profile.
