Deleting a Commons Account

If you wish to close your account, please contact us. We will delete all information associated with your account, and if you ever wish to use the social-networking features of the Network again, you will need to resubmit all information associated with your account and reestablish all connections with other Commons members.

If you would like to close your Knowledge Commons account, please contact us.

What Happens When Your Account Is Closed

When you request account closure:

  • All personal information associated with your account will be deleted.
  • If you decide to return to the Commons later, you will need to create a new account, reenter your information, and rebuild all connections with other members.

Content That Will Not Be Removed

To maintain the integrity of community activity, certain content will remain on the site:

  • Posts, discussions, and group interactions remain visible to preserve continuity across the network.
  • Some user-generated content—such as files deposited in KCWorks—will remain in place.
    • KCWorks is an open-access repository that provides permanent identifiers (DOIs) for deposited works.
    • Because of its preservation mission, items stored there cannot be removed or deleted.
