Viewing and Using Collections

Collections in KCWorks help users organize and share related works within the repository. They can be created by individual users, Commons groups, or partner organizations, and they make it easier to browse and discover materials connected by topic, project, affiliation, or theme.

What Is a Collection?

A collection is a curated group of KCWorks deposits. Collections can be used to:

  • Organize works around a topic, theme, or research area
  • Highlight materials produced by a Commons group
  • Gather outputs from a course, event, or project
  • Showcase content from an organization or community

Creators can add their own works to collections, and collection administrators review items before approving them.

Where Can I View Collections?

To browse available collections:

  1. Go to the KCWorks homepage.
  2. Select Collections from the top navigation menu.

This will bring you to a page listing all public collections in the repository.

Are collections required to be linked to Commons groups?

No. Collections in KCWorks do not have to be linked to Knowledge Commons groups. You can create and manage a collection entirely on its own. Collections can be created, curated, and maintained independently without any group affiliation.
