Uploads to KCWorks are permanent, as our goal is to preserve and provide access to work submitted to Works, and we strongly discourage the withdrawal of items from it. KCWorks is designed to provide its users with a permanent and accessible record of their scholarship, and assures continued access to that scholarship through its robust archiving features and the minting of DOIs. These DOIs are then indexed by a number of external services, and by minting them, we are assuring a working link to the content to which they refer.
Knowledge Commons will only Works under the following circumstances:
- The work violates our Guidelines for Use and Terms of Use
- The work violates copyright or fair use guidelines
Works and versions of Works can be hidden at the author's discretion. View our guide on this.
If I hide my upload in KCWorks, will the DOI still be active?
Hiding an upload in KCWorks will not remove the DOI, and you will have the ability to publish the Work again at your discretion. Sometimes uploads into our system or the metadata from those uploads might be aggregated through other platforms, such as Google Scholar. Knowledge Commons does not have the ability to control how our data is aggregated by these platforms.
If KCWorks removes my upload, will there still be records available online?
If the admins of KC Works remove your upload, there will no longer be a record of it on our website and the DOI will be removed from the record. If the file or metadata has been aggregated by other platforms, you'll need to contact them directly.
